Greeting Card Universe, the world’s largest greeting card store, announces its popular collection of 4,644 original and uncommon Graduation cards.

“Graduating from school—be it preschool, kindergarten, grade school, high school, college, or trade school—is more than just putting on a cap and gown, and getting a diploma,” says Mindy Rosso-Gaemi, Community Manager at Greeting Card Universe. “It’s a rite of passage and a milestone achievement marking the next stage of development.”

Millions of American children, teenagers, and adults graduate from school each year. The cap and gown worn by graduating students has a rich history. The familiar four-sided and tasseled cap called a mortarboard was first developed in 16th century Scotland, while the gown is reminiscent of clothing worn in Europe’s late medieval period. Before the 1950s in the U.S., the color of all gowns was grey. Today, school colors are often worn.

“The commencement ceremony begins a journey into a new life,” says Rosso-Gaemi. “And of course, a student’s family gives their encouragement and support at this special time. Last year, around 74 million greeting cards in total were given, including Graduation Announcements, Commencement Ceremony Invitations, Graduation Invitations, and Graduation Congratulations.”

Greeting Card Universe’s collection includes cards for Grade Specific from Pre-K to College, GED, Graduate School, For Him, For Her, Trade/Vocational School, Relationship Specific, Name Specific and Photo Graduation Announcements. As well as a collection of cards heralding academic achievements like straight As, Class Valedictorian, Dean’s List, Honor Roll and more.

Additionally, custom greeting cards can be created within 48 hours at no additional cost by requesting changes (like incorporating the graduate’s own school colors) or a totally new design from their artist community of over 4,500 freelance artists from around the world.

“A growing trend for modern students is giving ‘thank you’ cards to teachers and parents or other relatives to express their appreciation for the guidance they’ve received. Also thank you cards for graduation for the graduate to acknowledge the kind gesture of a gift. Shoppers can personalize the inside of all cards at Greeting Card Universe with their own text and photo,” says Rosso-Gaemi. “Once shoppers discover the variety of Graduation cards we offer, they’ll never shop anywhere else again.”

Greeting Card Universe’s traditional and niche offerings of over 530,000 cards gives nod to the importance of choice and personalization in today’s marketplace and stays true to its tagline “any card imaginable.”

Greeting Card Universe, the world’s largest greeting card store, announces its popular collection of 9,062 original and uncommon Father’s Day cards.

After World War II, the unofficial observance of Father’s Day in the U.S. was established. Since 1972, when President Richard Nixon proclaimed it an official national holiday, Father’s Day has been celebrated on the third Sunday in June. Many countries around the world also observe a special day for fathers, though not all on the same date.

“The modern Father’s Day is about all different kinds of dads,” says Mindy Rosso-Gaemi, Community Manager at Greeting Card Universe. “Today the holiday celebrates many special relations in a person’s life who are fathers like husband, brother, boyfriend, grandfather, grandson, son, uncle, first time father, birth father, co-worker, coach, and many more.”

Greeting Card Universe offers a large variety of traditional and popular card designs for Father’s Day, but has fortified their collection with unconventional and non-traditional cards.

“We’re offering a collection of greeting cards to fit such unusual categories as My Two Dads or For Baby Daddy,” says Rosso-Gaemi, “as well as Across the Miles, Father’s Day Photo Cards, Birthday on Father’s Day, Like a Father to Me, Father to be, Estranged Father, In Remembrance of Father, From the Pet, and with themes like Sports for the sporty dad, Humor for the funny dad or Rivers/Lakes for the outdoorsy dad for example. Once shoppers discover the variety of Father’s Day cards available in our collection, they’ll never shop anywhere else.”

According to the Washington Business Journal, last year Americans spent an estimated $11 billion dollars on Father’s Day gifts. $1.4 billion was spent on greeting cards - the same as the amount spent on electronics and clothing.

“Shoppers can personalize the inside of all cards at Greeting Card Universe with their own text and photo,” adds Rosso-Gaemi, “adding a personal touch while enjoying the ease of ordering online. Additionally, custom greeting cards can be created within 48 hours at no additional cost by requesting changes or a totally new design from our artist community of over 5,100 freelance artists from around the world.”

Nuts and bolts: maps Photo - community GCU

Here is a classic & bolts of year last with some examples on how to (and how not) Photo cards design. Enjoy this blast from the past!

In the former community newsletters, I have given you advice of the designer to create Photo Cards and Top five tips for the design of Photo Cards. Mindy (GCU administrator) gave a few important guidelines in the Forum. Today, we will talk about how to design maps Photo that will attract the attention of buyers and how to fix parts map to transform for sale gold.

All examples of map "Before" were actually acceptable according to the standards of the GCU - Yes, I checked. However, from a business point of view, they were not so great. With some tweaking, however, the bar has been raised, as the appeal. I expect card drawings as examples of "the after" will be done.

Obtain, shall we? Take a look at this first example:

In the before picture, you will see that the design itself is very well... If it is just a normal Halloween card. As a Photo card Halloween, it works really. Why? Because he looks exactly like what it is: an existing map with a couple of tiny photos mobilize on it. And it seems unfinished because the check boxes in the photo is not a border around them. The focus on design rather than photographs of the buyer. In the image from, you see that the focus has been moved so photos Centre held with elements of design slightly interacting with photos - a very sharp composition. It will be successful? Well, we sold a short time after cards Photo became public, so I would say "Yes."

In the image of the front once more has been emphasis on the design element - in this case, the skeleton - with negligible photo, apparently almost an afterthought area. You can see where I was going with the idea, but lacks execution. Let us now consider the image of "the after". Although the actual photo area is not that much larger than before, giving him a somewhat irregular framework which incorporates the color on the new text of the card front and allowing the skeleton to interact with the photo, the composition is much improved. The Visual joke now works much better!

And the last example...

The idea of having a black giant, hairy spiders, scary threatening the person on the photo are quite good, but in the image "Before", it doesn't have much impact. The area of the photo is too small, and there is no boundary to define the area and to give a crisp edge. The image of "the after", I've not changed position of the area in the photo, but I blew it and in fact a circle and given a decisive border. Voila! The idea of this new translation is much better, and I allowed the spider to interact more with the photo to give it more oomph.

If there you have it - three before and after the greeting card of examples of Photo card design errors and how to fix them. I tend to learn better with Visual information, so I hope that this article will help you point towards models of success.

Photo place cards welcome guests - detroitnews.com

As the school year comes to end, students who participated in everything from baseball to band, or chess club to the science fair, are attending banquets, award dinners and lunches.

If you want to host a graduation dinner or other event where the guests will be sitting, an easy way to mark their place is with a photo place card.

Begin with a small box. If your school has a die-cutting system, it is likely to have a box die cut. If a die cut is not available, take any small box and pull it apart to create a pattern.

Mark all of the cut and fold lines, then assemble the box, mimicking the original box. For extra strength, laminate the paper first. Decorate the boxes with generic embellishments like stars or coordinate the decorations to match the theme of the event. A perfect way to personalize the place card is with a photo.

Simply cut around the subject, cut out a matching shape from paper and sandwich a wooden toothpick or piece of thin gauge wire between the layers when gluing them together. Each box can be filled with goodies or shredded paper, but the ultimate customization for a sports event is to grow wheat grass or alfalfa sprouts in the box. Seeds will grow without dirt if you fill the box with crumpled paper towels and cotton batting.

It is helpful to moisten the cotton before covering it with seeds, then water twice daily with an eyedropper or straw to keep the seeds moist.

Two to three weeks of watering will result in a box full of lush greenery that will make the perfect host for a photo label. And if the special event includes a meal, the salad (or sandwich) can even be enhanced with the sprouts!

Share Your Family With Holiday Photo Cards

Holiday photo cards are some of the most popular greeting cards sent out during the holidays. They have a personality that a normal boxed card cannot duplicate. They mark another year in the life of your friends and family and are always a welcome reminder from those you care most about. Very often a photo card is that once a year gathering together of families, and is an annual documentation of the changes that have occurred over the past twelve months. Unless there are other milestones that have taken place, like graduations or weddings, family gatherings are sometimes rare. Even if there is a special event that occurs over the course of a year, it is still nice to have that one photo taken at around the same time showing the progress in a family's life.

When deciding on a photo for your holiday card you will want to do some planning so that the resulting picture captures the essence of your family. You may want to consider coordinating wardrobes so that there is cohesiveness to the shot. This doesn't necessarily mean everyone should be wearing matching holiday sweaters. What it does mean though is that if the shot is formal all the members of the group should be dressed more formally. On the flip side, if your family is of the more casual persuasion, jeans and polo shirts may be worn by everyone. There is some debate about how conservative the dress should be. As long as it reflects the true nature of the family, you cannot go wrong. Besides, when you look back on some of the cards in ten or fifteen years, what you thought was cool and edgy will no longer be so and it will make for a nice conversation piece for your children's children someday.

The thing about holiday photo cards is that often times they are kept over the years and can provide a history and recurring enjoyment for family and friends. Revisiting the fashions of the days gone by never gets old and holiday cards are a great resource for some truly interesting fashion statements. They are also a great way to document family pets into your family history. Some pet owners go to great lengths getting photos taken for the annual holiday photos going so far as to dress them in holiday outfits like Santa Claus or one of his reindeer outfitted with antlers and bells.

Some people use their holiday photo cards to document a special trip, or occasion from the year past. For instance a warm reminder of a Caribbean vacation sent to chilly relatives snowbound in the great white north. Or the reverse for relatives in the south that would welcome the sight of a snowy landscape from their friends and family back home. Cards are meant to be a way to let others know how important you are to them and that you are thinking of them. A card with a photo reinforces the thought and conveys it in ways that other media cannot. At the end of the holiday season, when all the decorations are taken down, and the presents are put away, there is always room for that handful photo cards you get every year to tuck safely in a box for another year.

Holiday photo cards create an instant keepsake and a treasured reminder of people who you have had an impact on and who in turn have brought something special into your own life. They are always worth sending. Conversely, they are always cherished and appreciated by the recipient

Many professional photographers offer mini sessions this time of year especially for digital photo cards. If you choose to take your own, here's a few tips and tricks:

Tip: Try to shoot your subject, be it jack-o'-lantern on ghostly ghoul, up close. Don't worry about getting your pirate from head-to-toe, and shoot from your child's height, not yours. Fill the frame with your subject for the best shot; avoid getting distracting stuff in the background of your picture.

Tip: If you're taking a picture of your perfectly carved jack-o-lantern, put several lights in, not just one, to get it really glowing.

Tip: If you're snapping pics of kids in masks, take a second photo without the masks so that in years to come you can identify every pirate and princess.

So go ahead and celebrate! Children of all ages love this time of year and still get excited about a spooky ghost or funny mask. Plan your event with a custom Halloween Invitation to pump up the excitement or send out a Halloween Photo card to share your creative costumes with friends near and far.

Photo Holiday Cards - Creating Pet Photo Cards

It isn't always easy to include your pets in photo holiday cards. For starters, they're not the most tolerant of photos in many cases. Plus, getting them to hold still is like trying to hold on to soap in the shower. It just doesn't usually work out well. However, if you're still willing to take the chance and looking to make your pets the stars of your next holiday card, you have many different styles and types of cards to choose from that will look great with your pet photos attached.

Photo holiday cards have been around for a long time and many people still send them every single year, despite the changes in technology that have made it easier to keep in touch. If you want to create a great pet photo for your card, you have to take the time to plan accordingly and figure out what you want to do. Some people take pictures of their pets throughout the year, which allows them to have photos at their disposal when they need them. Other people have professional photos done so that they can guarantee that they turn out. Even more people might just wait for the opportune moment to capture their pets on film.

If you do attempt to pose your pets for photo holiday cards, be patient. Most pets aren't going to help you out on this project and you might need to enlist the help of your family members to get the photo just right. Think about the type of picture that you want to send, too. Some people like cute photos while others want fun pictures or something that is a little more unique. No matter what you are looking for, it should be easy for you to figure it out if you get creative.

Photo holiday cards are available in all shapes and sizes for your pet pictures, and can be anything that you want. Whether you want a funny greeting or a cute card, there is plenty to choose from. You no longer have to be the center of attention to send photo cards because you can let your pets do the showing off and stay behind the scenes. Plus, you can customize these cards online without spending a lot of money, giving you plenty of great reasons to consider sending pet holiday cards this year instead of virtual greetings or traditional family photos.

The Top 10 Funniest Holiday Photo Card Ideas Revealed

The holidays can represent a wide range of beliefs, traditions, and gift-giving opportunities. While the holidays are traditionally a time of religious and spiritual contemplation and rejoicing, everyone can use some humor in their life. This is especially true in today's tight economy where many families are discovering that they will be unable to travel to see family and friends this holiday season. This realization is making the use of Christmas cards and holiday photo cards, once again, a great way to reconnect with loved ones without breaking the family bank account.

Everyone needs a good laugh now and then. You can use your Christmas cards as a way to spread some holiday cheer by using humorous family photographs to design custom made holiday cards. Nearly everyone has a photograph or two that can bring on a smile even on the worst of days. If you do not have one that will work, there are plenty of opportunities to create a humorous holiday photo card with a digital camera and very little effort.

1. Bathtub Bubbles - Bubble bath photos nearly always bring a smile, especially when the tub is also filled with pets and/or children dressed in Santa hats or reindeer antlers. The bubbles end up being props of their own and the delighted faces of your children will shine through on these holiday photo cards.

2. Crazy Crashes - We don't actually want to see anyone get hurt, but sometimes the camera is right where it needs to be to catch a moment that says it all. Feet in the air, skyrocketing eyebrows, and mouths in a perfect "O" can bring make us laugh out loud in spite of ourselves.

3. Doing It Old School - Grab the family and get decked out in something hysterically historical. Add a sepia-time filter and you have everything you need for some comical Christmas cards.

4. Dressing Up - Most children love the chance to dress up in Mommy and Daddy's clothes. Grab an armful of shoes, jackets, dresses, and hats and let the fun begin. Your kids will parade and prance for as long as your camera batteries will last, creating funny family photographs perfect for your holiday photo cards.

5. Driveway Deliberations - Take a broom to the driveway and break out a big box of brightly colored chalk and urge family members to add their holiday message to the driveway. Once all of your "artists" have completed their works, have a neighbor snap a shot of the family declaring their holiday driveway message.

6. Exquisitely Embarrassing - Everyone has photographs that make the subject cringe and groan out loud as family and friends laugh riotously and tease affectionately. These humorous Christmas photo cards are sure to be a favorite, as everyone else recalls embarrassing moments of their own.

7. Food Foibles - Whether the photograph is of a toddler wearing their birthday cake or a bowlful of spaghetti, kids involuntarily feeding the family dog, or the new wife's smoke-filled kitchen, these photographs are sure to provide the comic relief everyone needs this holiday season.

8. Hysterical Holidays - Thanksgiving turkeys that ended up on the floor, silly Halloween costumes, family vacation adventures, birthday party disasters, and cake-mashing wedding photographs can all be used to generate humor as well as let others know what your family has been up to during the year.

9. Intriguing Insights - Candid photographs often show far more than was intended. Children stuck in buckets, dogs sneaking up on unsuspecting diners, and the kids' attempt at bathing the family dog can all provide plenty of good choices for your holiday photo cards.

10. Pampered Pets - Pets make great subjects for humorous Christmas cards. Most dogs and even some cats will tolerate being dressed, decorated, and posed in countless humorous photo card options. Santa hats, antlers, and human clothing can all be used to create something silly that everyone will enjoy.

We should always be looking for ways of thinking outside the box. There may be a humorous photo waiting to happen, and through more creative or non-conventional situations, you may easily capture that next holiday Christmas memory. This is also a simple, easy way to have a whole lot of fun!

Choose One of the Christmas Photo Cards This Year

Christmas Photo Cards a Unique Approach for This Holiday Season

Sending out Christmas photo cards instead of just some random cards you picked up at the local store is a better way to show your family and friends you are thinking of them. This is one of the most popular holidays of the year and many people love to receive cards in the mail. It is a tradition that has been around nearly as long as the actual post office.

You can go with one of the Christmas photo cards this year and show off your family or anything you would like. A card is very nice because it is unique and it gives you an excuse to get the family together for a nice photo every single year.

Some Christmas Photo Cards to Consider

If you have, a newborn that you have recently welcomed into your life you can do Christmas photo cards with a nativity scene. Your family can be around a sable scene with the newborn in the crib. Now you don't have to get the picture taken with the props because you can use Photoshop to give your card the scene you are after.

Another choice is to go with a Santa card. This is a very popular one and there are a number of good Santa Claus themes for your card. You could even dress the children up as elves and the parents as Santa and Mrs. Claus. If you like to get creative and do things a bit different from the way others do them, then this is a good way to show your holiday spirit.

There may have been many events happening throughout the year and if you want to show off what you and your family have done, and then create a Christmas photo card with a collage of different pictures. You have many ideas to choose from for your card and you can do many creative things with Photoshop if you wish. Make sure it is fun for the children and the adults so that you can show off how happy your family is this year.

Traditional Christmas Photo Cards

This is a great scene for a new family picture for your Christmas card and you may be able to do this right in your own home. It is very simple and easy to set up and anybody with a camera can make it happen.

Photo Cards Are Great For Many Occasions

Photo cards are of various kinds and for different reasons. Photo cards are for various types of identifications like driving licenses, for companies with a key card for their systems and for gaining entry into the premises, and photo cards are also made for special occasions. The photos which are on the cards have to be taken according to what they have to portray as the backgrounds are symbolic. You cannot have a frivolous background for a photo card which is an official identification card and likewise the one you are sending as greetings will have to have a more fun background and surrounding.

Photo cards are sent after celebrations like a wedding, the birth of a baby, a housewarming, holiday cards or flowers. These photo cards will need to be sharp and yet have a lot of color in them and also depict the reason for the card clearly. Often people make photo cards for Christmas and New Year greetings with a family portrait which is especially taken for this reason. This is a warm way of greeting people as a family and also sending them your latest family photo. Most people appreciate this sort of a card as it gives them the opportunity to catch up with those they have not seen in a long time and get to know what they look like now.

Photo cards which are sent as announcement of a new arrival have the baby's picture on it and for those who live too far to come and see the baby this is a good way of having a look at it. Similarly wedding pictures of the couple are also put on photo cards to thank those who have attended it. There are sad occasions which have photo cards like memorial services for the departed, where the person's photo is put on the invitation card to the service.

7 Ideas For a Great Christmas Photo Card

One of the most important Christmas traditions is the sending of greeting cards to our friends and family. You could have even already sent them some form of a photo card in the past. This article will cover 7 different ideas that will help you to make beautiful photo Christmas cards this year.

If you want to opt for a striking difference, you can make your photo black and white. Your digital camera has probably a black and white feature; otherwise, you may choose to use a photo editing software as most of them come with this feature. If you do not know how to use such functions, the store where you have your cards made will surely offer this service for free.

A lot of people traditionally only have their kids' photograph on these cards. Make it a whole family thing and ask the help of everyone. Make sure to emphasize the traditional side of the holiday. For example: wear Santa boots or gloves, use the Christmas tree as background and take the photo when your family is building a snowman in the yard or picking pinecones. You can even take a picture of the whole family when you go looking at the Christmas lights.

Choose to be creative by taking photos of your family in their natural environment or while they are decorating the Christmas tree or playing in the yard instead of traditional posed photos to make you greeting card.

You could even make a scrapbooking photo card. Take a few of your photos and combine them, putting the pictures on a sheet of holiday scrapbook paper and have that made as a card. Card making stores can help you to make this as they provide many holiday themed paper available.

A simple idea to decorate a standard greeting card is by going the hobby store and get small scrapbooking Christmas decorations, you will only have to stick them on the card. You can even make the design of the card more personal by adding details such as items that your friend likes or collects: cows, trains, etc. Simply buy a package of these items and stick one of them on each corner of the photo.

There are many companies on the cyberspace that provide great Christmas cards for not expensive costs, but they are not cheap on the look of the card. A lot of them also let you design your card exactly to your own expectations. They also allow you to use their own photo editing software as you probably will need one to touch up your photos.

So make this Christmas an even more particular one with your card sending.

Recycle Your Holiday Photo Cards

The Holidays are over and many of us have received adorable and unique holiday photo cards from friends and family. They looked great sitting on our mantle, hanging on the wall and displayed on our tables and refrigerators. But now what do you do with them? Here are a few creative ideas to help you recycle your photo cards and save them as keepsakes for years to come.

Create a Photo Album: Buy an inexpensive photo or scrapbook album or even a binder with sheet protectors and place the photo cards inside. Categorize them by year or by family. Categorizing them by family is great because you can look back and see how much the family has grown and changed over the years. You can also write notes or memories next to each photo. Get your kids involved and have them help you create the album.

Christmas Tree Ornaments: Purchase some large round ornaments in any color and size during the after Christmas sales. You can usually get them for half off. You can also recycle old ornaments that you might have otherwise thrown away. Cut out the photos from the cards you received and use a decoupage type glue that you can find at any craft store to apply the photos. Let them dry and store them away to decorate your tree for next year.

You can also cut out fun designs like trees, snowflakes and snowmen on construction paper and glue the photos on. Cut a hole in the top and use recycled ribbon from all of your holiday packages to create a hanging ornament. These are both great projects for kids.

Framed Photo Collage: Create a photo collage with your photo cards. You can cut the photos or leave them as is and arrange them in a collage design on a piece of construction paper or cardstock. Purchase an inexpensive frame or use one that you already have to display the photo collage. You can put it out next year at Christmas or keep it up year round.

Gifts: You can use the photo cards that you received from friends and family this year to make a gift for that friend or family member next Christmas or even for mother's day, father's day, Easter or Valentine's Day. Great gift ideas are coasters, placemats and framed photo cards.

So the next time you are wondering what to do with all of your holiday photo cards use one of these fun and easy ideas.

Holiday Photo Cards Can Add a Personal Touch to the Holidays

Sometimes the holidays can become so busy and hectic that we don't take the time to stop and enjoy ourselves. And quite honestly, with all the gift buying, parties, family get togethers and what not, it can seem almost impossible to do. We can also become so stressed out that we forget that the point of the holidays is to spend time with friends and family, making memories. It's important to make sure that we keep the holidays personal and don't simply go through the motions of buying presents and sending cards. Holiday photo cards are a great way of helping you to keep the personal in the holidays.

Almost everyone sends out Christmas cards to family, friends, coworkers and clients. Holiday cards are a great way of keeping touch with those that we love, letting them know that despite how hectic and busy our lives may be, we are thinking of them and wishing them the best.

Most of us buy our own Christmas cards. They can be fairly generic, usually featuring a pretty winter scene, cute cartoonish animals or a religious motif. Sometimes we don't even pay attention to the cards we're sending out, simply grabbing a pack and scribbling our name at the bottom. Holiday photo cards can make your Christmas card stand out from the rest and give those you love who live far away a chance to see how you and your family have changed over the past year.

When choosing the picture to go on your card, you don't have to stick with the traditionally family shot taken in front of the tree or with a roaring fire as a backdrop. You can be as creative as you want, helping to set the atmosphere for your card. The picture you use on your holiday card is like an extension of you, so of course it should show your personality and who you really are.

There is no rule that says you have to have a picture of the family on the card. If you have children, friends and family would love to see a picture of them at Christmas time. You can get them dressed up in their best clothes, or do something fun, like a costumed picture. Elves or reindeer make cute costumes. Or dress the baby up as Santa Claus. Your cards will be a big hit and very much appreciated.

If you want to send holiday photo cards but don't want to include a picture of you or your family, you can send funky cards instead. Have animals? Why not feature them on your Christmas card? Or you can include a beautiful winter photo that you snapped. If you really hate winter, why not send a shot of a palm tree or a sandy beach? The great thing about a photo card is that there is no limit to what you can include.

If you own or run your own business, sending a holiday photo card with a picture of you and your staff is a great way to thank customers for their loyalty in the past year. A standard card is okay, but a personalized photo card lets them know that even with something as simple as a Christmas card, you go that extra mile.

So break out your Sunday bests and get the dog all snazzed up. Taking the extra time to create and send holiday photo cards will mean all the world to those who will be receiving them.

Guide to Perfect Holiday Photo Cards

What is the best way to spread a smile during the holidays? With another smile! Photo cards have become an almost infectious tradition during the holiday season because everyone wants to share their beautiful family--whatever shape or size it may be--with those that they care about. The best way to express change is by showing it! Children grow, people change, and all of that is reflected in a simple snapshot. Now that digitally printed photo greeting cards are available, sending customized holiday cards is a synch. Follow this comprehensive guide to get the perfect holiday photo cards this year!

Most photo cards have a minimal amount of wording. They keep it simple, and generally say who it is from along with a greeting or sentiment. Pretty easy, right? Believe it or not, there are three major errors that appear time after time. Get in the know, and avoid these mistakes before they are even made.

Last Name: It is not as ridiculous as it sounds! Carefully check the spelling of any last names, of course, but also be careful of using plurals. It is easy enough with a typical last name:
Last name: Smith

The Smiths

The Smith FamilyHowever, if your last name ends in an "s" things start getting tricky:
Last name: Jones

The Joneses

The Jones Family

Year: Which year do you use? The New Year is just a few days away from the major winter holidays, but do not let that trip you up! Always use the year that we are currently in on your holiday photo cards.

Photos: We offer a ton of holiday photo card options, both digitally printed and attachable photo cards. Be sure that your photos suit the card that you have selected. Designs can call for square, narrow, or standard photos. We handle the cropping for you for digital cards, but be sure that the photo can be cropped into the shape that you will need.

When sending a custom holiday photo card, the most important part is naturally the photo. The way that you share your family with your photo will change the look and feel of the entire card. Aside from selecting just the right photograph, there are several coloring options that can also be implemented. Each one will alter the appearance of your photo card, so take a moment to consider these options:

Full Color: The natural state of most photos is to have full coloring. These photos tend to be lively and bright, giving a more uplifting and energetic impression. They also offer the greatest variety, as you can select what colors you want to wear or have in the background when taking your photo. Full color photos are a great chose for happy children, pets, and entire families.
Black & White: This coloring style gives your photo a classic look, as if you are capturing a moment in time. A simple photo with one or two subjects is ideal for this style. Black and white photos are great for sleeping or serene children and couple shots.
Sepia: Sepia coloring brings in an old world, antique feel to your photograph. Just like the black and white, this monochrome coloring style is best with simple subjects. This coloring style is best suited for couples such as engagement or wedding photos.
Selective Coloring: A unique coloring option to speak with your photographer about, this coloring style incorporates offering coloring to only select portions of the photo. It can give a similar feel to the old style painted photographs, or can offer a brilliant method of highlighting certain aspects of a photo (eyes, lips, flowers, etc.).

There are several different styles of holiday photo cards available to suit your different needs. Understanding the options will help you with selecting the perfect design.

Digital vs. Attachable: Photo cards are available either as digital prints or as attachable photo cards. Digital photo cards require you to provide a digital image to print in the design. Attachable photo cards require you to have your own photos printed and include a method to attach them to the card after printing.
Flat vs. Folded: Some designs are flat, and thus have all of your personalized wording on the front along with the photo. Others are folded like a traditional greeting card, and will incorporate the photo on the cover with your personalized wording inside.
Standard vs. Slim: Photo cards come in a variety of sizes. The two main distinctions are standard invitations and slim invitations. Often, slim invitations give a more formal and custom appeal, and are almost always flat.
Single vs. Multiple Photos: The number of photos will vary from 1-4, depending on the design. All designs that incorporate more than one photo will be digitally printed. Attachable photo cards only can accommodate one photo.

Armed with this knowledge, you will be a photo card pro. Whether you prefer to shop in store or online, the options will be similar. Just be sure to take the time to look and read, so you know that all your needs will be met with the holiday card you choose.

Finding Inexpensive Holiday Photo Cards

These days it has become really popular for people to mail Christmas photo cards, and even some business Christmas cards that include photos. Still, these can get quite pricey, particularly if you are sending out a lot of them.

You will need to consider not only the cost of the card but the cost of the postage as well. Nevertheless, there are some sites where you can get holiday photo cards without breaking the bank.

One mode to preserve money on holiday photo cards is to utilize a photograph for the photo card that you have taken yourself. In this manner you can get these cards from one of the on line photo Internet sites or through the photo producing centers that are situated in numerous discount stores and drug stores. All of these sites ordinarily have cards that are much less pricey than those you would produce through a professional photo studio.

If you wish to get the best deal on holiday photo cards you want to shop around. There are oftentimes sales on these cards close to the holidays. You will need to get them sufficient in early though so you have enough of time to address and mail them out.

Check in with all the different photo web sites as well as any photo developing sites near you, and discover the sales ads in the paper. Several sites charge different sums for these cards. If you happen to see a good sale these cards will be much more affordable.

Those who are buying just a few photo cards will end up paying more than per card than those who are buying larger numbers of holiday photo cards. There is a piece of a discount for purchasing a greater amount.

The easy thing about the photo processing centers in many discount and drug stores is that you can get your photo cards right away as they will print them while you 're waiting. If you have put things off until the last minute this can be very helpful.

Order the cards on line can sometimes be cheaper, but it will take you longer to get the cards since they will be prepared and sent. Sometimes it requires a couple weeks unless you are prepared to pay extra for expedited service. This is why it is a healthy idea to order your cards a month or two early.

The luckiest families are those that happen to have a really good picture that they have taken during the year that will work for their holiday photo cards. These images aren't always christmas photo cards themes, but as long as they aren't obviously geared toward another holiday this doesn't really matter.

Trends in Christmas Photo Cards

The Christmas Season is fast approaching and many of you are thinking about what kind of Christmas card to send to your loved ones this year. First of all, the importance of sending out a Christmas card cannot be overlooked. Today, families and friends are spread out all across the country due to job changes and the ease of national travel, so families and close friends do not get to see each other on a regular basis anymore. In fact, the holiday season may be the only time during the year when you can catch up with them, and sending a photo Christmas card is a great way to not only show off your family, but to share well wishes with those who are close to you.
So what are the trends this year in Christmas photo cards? Well, in recent years companies like Wal-Mart and Walgreens have offered cheap Christmas photo card prints with a picture on one side and a generic greeting on the other. I'm sure all of you have received one of these rather generic Christmas photo card prints from someone in years past. However, as these companies have fought over price, the quality of these Christmas photo cards has suffered tremendously and the photo materials are now so thin, the end product usually curls so much as to resemble a large potato chip. If you're in a really tight budget crunch and don't have time to think about a quality Christmas photo card this year, this may be an option for you, but not one that we would recommend.
The biggest Christmas photo card trend this year are photo cards that are printed on thick premium cardstock, but also double as a magnet. One thing that my family always had a problem with was where to display the Christmas photo cards from our closest friends and family. Mom would always place the most important Christmas photo cards on the fridge, but had to cover them up with a bulky magnet to get them to stay put. Now, however, companies are starting to offer Christmas photo cards that come with their own magnets. Gone are the days where we had to tape them to the wall or put them in a pile on the counter. Now, we can place the Christmas photo card right on the fridge!
The great thing about the new technology is that the pricing for a magnetic Christmas photo card and a regular Christmas photo card are the same. Other trends for this year are a move away from clip art graphics and toward a more refined, crisp look for their Christmas photo cards. Artists are concerning themselves more with the use of color combinations and patterns in these Christmas photo cards, and less on the use of traditional images of Santa and the North Pole. The continued trend in Christmas photo card coloring appears to be the use of an espresso brown color coupled with a combination of blues, greens and reds.
Although espresso isn't a typical Christmas card color, it is an inviting and warming color that works well with other colors, so we think this trend will continue on into next year as well. Whatever you decide to do this year for your Christmas photo card, make sure you don't just "throw something out there" without any forethought. Take some time to get a quality photograph and consider sending out a special Christmas photo card that shows you care. This may be the only time you correspond with loved ones in awhile, so make it count!

Tips For Creating a Memorable Holiday Photo Card

It is a longstanding tradition to make holiday cards more memorable and unique by including a terrific photograph. For many people, it is an annual challenge to create a holiday photo card that outshines the one that they sent out the year before.

While creating personal holiday photo cards should be an enjoyable endeavor, choosing a great and unique photo can be easier said than done. We've all known people who become quite anxious in deciding on the "perfect" picture. For example, should it be a funny or candid shot or should it be a posed portrait? And what about including the family pets in the photo? Here, we offer tips on creating memorable holiday photo cards by choosing great pictures.

Do You First Choose the Card or the Photo?

The short answer to the question about whether to start first with the card or the photo is to go with whatever works best for you in getting those creative juices going. Perhaps you've already chosen the picture and now you want to look for a card that suits it. Or maybe you've found a terrific Christmas card first and now want to take a picture that complements its style and design.

Regardless of which works best for you, it is fun to check out the greeting cards currently available to spark some great ideas for the kind of photo you want to take. Also, the size of your favorite card may be a determining factor in your choice of holiday photo; for example, if the card is fairly small, then you want to choose a photo that fits that size. And some cards are large enough that they offer the choice to include more than one photo if that works for you.

It's always a good idea to explore the selection of holiday cards that are available to you because that may inspire you to take a terrific photo that matches their style and design.

Ideas to Make Your Christmas Photo Cards Stand Out

Some people who have a tradition of sending out holiday photo cards think their families and friends only want to see pictures of their children or their pets or both together. Either Mom or Dad may be camera-shy, or they may think that the recipients of the card only want to see their cute kids and pets, but the holiday season is a time for sharing so jump in front of the camera this time to share a photo of your entire family.

Another idea to be different from the crowd is to choose a black and white photo for your greeting cards. If you are using a digital camera to take your holiday photo, it should have a setting that lets you take a black and white photo. If not, there is software available to convert color photos taken by digital cameras into a grayscale image. One tip for taking a great black and white photo for your holiday cards is to keep the subject matter simple and uncluttered.

If you are going on a family vacation regardless of the time of year, why not take along some Santa hats for all those who will be featured in your holiday cards? That way, whether you are all on the beach, at a national park, or in some exotic locale, you can slip on the Santa hats to take a picture in these settings for unique holiday cards.

While hiring a photographer for professional portrait pictures is an option, sometimes candid shots are often more fun and show true personalities in photos. Why not consider taking pictures of the family while involved in some of the activities they enjoy? You can put a smile on the faces of your friends if they receive a holiday photo card with your family acting silly or goofing around.

Here are Some More Suggestions for Your Holiday Cards

Perhaps these additional suggestions will inspire you to take a great photo for this year's holiday cards.

o Taking a holiday photo of your family trimming the Christmas tree may be an oldie, but it is also a goodie. Think of Norman Rockwell when choosing the activities featured in your photo, like Dad putting a star on top of the tree, Mom placing an ornament on the tree, and the children peeking at their gifts or shaking a present, trying to guess what's inside.

o If you take holiday photos for your cards every year, then you might include the year of that holiday season in the picture. You can incorporate the numbers of that year in unique ways by having the folks in your photo hold them in an unusual or fun way.

o Sure, it's a bit silly, but how about putting some reindeer "antlers" on your children and furry friends? That always makes for a cute photo.

o Surprise! Take a holiday photo of someone in your family popping out of a large gift box near your Christmas tree, complete with bows and wrapping paper.

Whatever photo you choose for your holiday cards, remember it's supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Just plan early enough and give free reign to your imagination.
